MHTL's mission is to provide training and guidance to young engineers through a coordinated program of sponsored research with industry and government. Since 1984, the Microelectronics Heat Transfer Laboratory has worked in collaboration with many of the leading microelectronics, telecommunications, automotive and high tech companies to develop solutions for heat transfer needs emanating from 40 years of unimpeded growth in the electronics sector. We continue to provide a strong level of support in our key strength areas of analytical modeling, property characterization, systems level testing and tool development. Many of the research initiatives within the MHTL are only possible because of coordinated efforts of the University of Waterloo through its Office of Research, government agencies such as Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) and the Natural Sciences Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and our industrial sponsors such as General Motors and Tornado Medical Systems. We see University sponsored research as a rewarding and highly successful venture for all collaborating partners. |
