Course Description |
A continuation of 1st year calculus, focusing on calculus of scalar and vector
functions of several variables. Both classical calculus techniques and the computer implementation of numerical methods are discussed. Partial differentation, total derivatives, chain rule, and transformation of variables and are discussed.
Applications include geometrical problems, error estimation, maxima and minima,
and least squares curve fits. Multiple integration in standard coordinate systems
vector calculus, curl, Laplacians, and Stoke's, Greens and the divergence
theorems are explained and demostrated by examples.
